The Stupid. It Burns!

Washington Post:

For $25 (plus shipping), “your child can play the role of a World War II hero” on Halloween, it promised.

But the costume portraying Anne Frank, the Jewish teenager whose diary chronicled the horrors of the Nazi regime, was called offensive by numerous critics, including major advocacy groups. So, an online retailer, removed the item from its website, and its spokesman apologized, saying offending people wasn’t the company’s intention.

(Some retailers did not actually make a direct connection to Anne Frank. They called it a 1930’s – ’40’s period costume, or a WWII-era refugee costume.)

Some people are so dumb that it surprises you to know that they actually find their way to work.

Why? Why would you even consider that as a costume idea?

I wonder if it came from Japan or China. Asia has a rather more casual attitude towards the Holocaust than we do in the West.

  2. I’m not big on “hypersensitivity…” but man! This is just plain awful. At least they left off the star. The tag clearly means this kid is part of a mass movement of people, like an evacuee. Or someone headed to a camp.
